CONIFEX is an amalgam of the words CONIFer and EXcellence.

Conifex Timber Inc. is an independent, privately owned softwood forest products company operating in the Northern Interior region of British Columbia. Our primary business is the manufacture of structural grade SPF dimension lumber.  Our operations are conducted in a sustainable, safe and environmentally sound manner and they include timber harvesting, reforestation, sawmilling and lumber finishing.

Conifex Timber Inc. completed the purchase of the Fort St. James forestry and sawmilling assets in August 2008. We have an extensive timber supply comprised of high quality and affordable fibre.  Our conversion facility is substantial, well maintained, cost-competitive, and well matched to our available fibre supply.  We have an experienced and competent leadership team coupled with a skilled hourly labour force.  We are partnered with an experienced sales marketing and logistics team, Welco Lumber Corp. that handles all our sales and transportation logistics to markets in North America and Asia.

On a two-shift basis our Fort St James sawmill is capable of producing approximately 300 million board feet of SPF lumber and 230,000 oven-dried tonnes (ODt) of chips, sawdust, shavings and hog annually.  All of our lumber is sold to customers in the US, China, Japan and Canada.
