Conifex

Conifex is an independent softwood forest products company operating in the Interior region of BC. Our primary business is solid wood and includes timber harvesting, reforestation, forest management, sawmilling logs into lumber and wood chips, and value-added lumber finishing.

Conifex completed the purchase of the Fort St. James Forestry and Sawmilling assets in late August 2008. We have an extensive timber base of sound fibre. Our converting facilities are substantial, well maintained, reasonably cost-competitive, and generally well matched to our available fibre supply. We have an experienced and competent leadership team coupled with a strong experienced hourly labour force.

We enjoy a positive relationship with local aboriginal groups. These relationships include the involvement of three First Nations Groups as shareholders of Conifex, native employment in both harvesting and converting operations, and the involvement of aboriginal groups as customers for the sale of certain by-products.

We are partnered with an excellent marketing and logistics team. On a two-shift basis our sawmill is capable of producing just over 300 million board feet of lumber on an annual basis. We also produce approximately 100,000odt of bark, sawdust and planer shavings on an annual basis, we intend to generate revenue from the sale of these by-products.
