Planning
Conifex shares a co-managed Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP) with three other licensees in Fort St James and retains its own exclusive FSP in Mackenzie. The FSP lays the groundwork for all future activities that may be undertaken on the areas encompassed by our two forest licenses FL A77955 and FL A15385 and must be submitted to and approved by the Ministry of Forests and Range. The FSP must meet statutory content requirements as described in the Forest and Range Practices Act (FRPA). Within the FSP are a series of Results and Strategies (R&S), Objectives and Measures that Conifex must achieve. R&S, Objectives and Measures encompass the following:
- water, fish, wildlife and biodiversity within riparian areas
- old growth management areas
- wildlife (habitat, species at risk, ungulate winter range)
- soils
- landscape level patch size distribution
- stand level biodiversity and wildlife
- visual quality objectives
- cultural heritage resources
- recreation resources
- lakeshore management zones
- community watersheds
- invasive plants
- stocking requirements
